AI in Hiring
Last updated: October 2026
Employers can use AI here to help rank people. A person makes every decision. You can ask for a person to review one.
1. What the AI does
- AI search scores Builders against what an Employer asks for. It adds 1 sentence on why.
- Applicant picks recommend up to 5 Applicants, once a job has 10 applications.
- The AI never rejects anyone. It changes the order and adds a badge.
- A person at the Employer makes every hiring decision.
2. What it reads
- AI search reads your public profile, such as your work history, projects and rate.
- Applicant picks also read your application: your message, rate, availability and answers.
- It does not read your age or birthday.
- We do not ask for your race, religion or gender.
3. Your rights
If AI was used in a decision about you, you can ask:
- What the decision was, and what part the AI played.
- Which AI was used, and what data about you it read.
- To see your data, and to correct it if it is wrong.
- For a person to review the decision.
The Employer makes the decision, so ask them first. You can also email . We will help you.
4. For Employers: how to use it
- Use it to find people to look at first.
- A person must read the profile or application before any decision.
- That person must be able to change the result. They must not just follow the AI.
- Check who the AI ranked low. Look for good people it missed.
- Tell Applicants you use AI. You can link to this page.
- If an Applicant asks for a review, have a trained person do it.
- Keep your own hiring records for at least 3 years.
5. For Employers: do not use it for
- Rejecting anyone without a person looking.
- Choosing people by age, race, religion, gender or any other protected group.
- Choosing people by country, unless the job really needs that place.
- Pay, promotion or firing decisions.
6. Known limits
- A score is an AI’s opinion of text. It is not a measurement.
- It can be wrong and still sound sure.
- It favors people who describe their work well.
- It may favor good English, or some places, without meaning to.
- It knows only what the profile says. A low score does not mean a weak Builder.
7. Training data
We do not train these models. We use large language models from other companies, named in our Privacy Policy. We do not know the full data they were trained on. Our Members’ data is not used by us to train any model.
8. Changes and records
- We record the AI version and prompt version for each run.
- We keep those records for 4 years.
- We update this page when the AI changes in a way that matters.
- Questions? Email .
